890 Forest Glen Avenue: A Rebuilt Family Home in the Heart of Aldershot South

The sellers of 890 Forest Glen Avenue were never planning to leave. In 2024, they took their 1949 house down to the studs and built additions on new foundations. They worked with Coco & Jack Design Studio so that every finish, colour and cabinet would work together. They were building the house they intended to raise their family in, on a street where JK through 12 is a short stroll around the corner.

Plans change. On October 15, 2026, the home came to market at $2,399,000, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 3,030 square feet of total living space on a 55 by 140 foot lot. The hard work is done. Everything is permitted and inspected, and every room has been thought through.

The full features list is on the listing page. This piece is about what drew the sellers to this street in the first place, and why it’s such an easy place to raise a family.

Quick Video Tour - A Sneak Peak!

The House, Briefly

The main floor is open, so whoever is cooking stays part of the conversation. The kitchen is built around a stained white oak island with quartzite counters, and full-height cabinet doors open to a hidden walk-in pantry. In winter, the family gathers around the gas fireplace under four 15-foot white oak beams. In summer, everyone ends up on the covered rear deck.

Upstairs are four bedrooms, including a primary suite with a heated ensuite floor, freestanding tub and handmade zellige tile shower. The laundry room is on the bedroom level, so no more hauling baskets up and down the stairs. The finished lower level gives the kids, or the teens, a space of their own.

The garage opens straight into the mudroom, so groceries, strollers and car seats come in out of the rain. The double-wide driveway parks five. Out back, the cabana has its own hydro and ethernet line, so it can be an office, a bar or the spot where everyone gathers on summer nights.

JK to Grade 12 Without Leaving the Neighbourhood

Glenview Public School (JK to Grade 6) is about 300 metres from the front door. It’s an easy walk for little legs, and the school playground is a weekend favourite. When the kids are older, Aldershot School (Grades 7 to 12) is about a kilometre from home.

A family moving in with a toddler could stay here through high school graduation. Every school year from junior kindergarten to Grade 12 is within walking distance of the house.

Two Minutes to LaSalle Park

LaSalle Park is a two-minute drive away. It’s a 57-acre park on North Shore Boulevard with sports fields, a playground, a wading pool with a splash pad, and a large picnic area. For families with young kids, the wading pool and splash pad are the summer routine, followed by swimming lessons at the Aldershot pool.

The park has its own marina with 219 slips, and the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club also operates out of LaSalle Park. The club is a family-oriented non-profit established in 1974. Through the week, it runs races for keel boats and dinghies, and its mentored sailing program lets newcomers learn about sailing and boat ownership before buying a boat of their own.

What surprises most first-time visitors is the swans. In summer, 50 to 75 of them gather in the small bay by the marina, and people come down just to watch. A few walking trails run along the park, beside a shoreline dedicated to fish and wildlife habitat restoration.

The Royal Botanical Gardens, Also Two Minutes Away

The Royal Botanical Gardens is another two-minute drive. It’s Canada’s largest botanical garden, covering more than 1,100 hectares of gardens and nature sanctuaries. That includes the Hendrie Valley Sanctuary, a large nature preserve with marshland.

The RBG has a long list of trails, from easy loops for a stroller to longer walks through the valley. Leashed pets are welcome in its outdoor areas, so the dog can come too.

Errands, Breakfast and the Commute

Most of daily life here happens within a two- to five-minute drive. Groceries are about five minutes away, and weekend breakfast at Russell Williams is just around the corner.

For commuters, the QEW and Highway 403 are each about two minutes from the house, and so is the Aldershot GO Station. The location is quiet and tree-lined, without being far from anywhere.

See It for Yourself

For the full walkthrough, I put together a 13-minute video tour on YouTube that covers the home room by room, in depth.

The sellers built this house for the long haul. If you’d like to see 890 Forest Glen in person, or talk through what’s happening in Aldershot, call or text me at 905-464-0941 or email andrew@mclellanrealestate.ca.
